Four Decades Auction Results

The year of photography auctions came to a close this week with Sotheby’s New York Four Decades: In Celebration of AIPAD auction, which brought together work from 19th, 20th and 21st century photographers at affordable prices. The auction was a celebration of Sotheby’s partnership with The Association of International Photography Art Dealers and included estimates as low as $500.

The auction realised a sales total of $315,378.

The most expensive lot was expectedly Nuit de Noel (Happy Club) by Malick Sidibé, which was given an estimate of $10,000 to $15,000 but received a hammer price of $47,880.

Ormond Gigi brought in $37,800 for his most famous print, Girls in the Windows, New York City and Francesca Woodman rounded out the top three with an untitled piece (Andover, Massachusetts) for $15,120.
